HERE ARE A FEW THINGS ALL STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW...

Connecting to WiFi on campus is simple and easy-

  • Open up your WiFi settings on your phone or laptop

  • Find "MSU Secure" (Other MSU WiFi's do work, but MSU Secure will give you the strongest connection

  • Sign in using your NetID and Password

"...and What's the Difference Between NetID and CWID?"

Your NetID is your Last name, plus the first initial of your first name and a number. An example of that would be Smithj46

Your CWID on the other hand is a 8 digit number that starts with a "M". An example of that would be M21611111.

*** It is very important that you have either written down or memorized these numbers. You will use them throughout your college career at MSU.

Located on the 5th Floor of University Hall- You can go and work on homework in a quiet space, print off any work, or even rent a laptop if you left your own at home!

My Device Portal

  • My Device Portal is a centralized location of all Montclair State University Network Registered Devices- If you have a smart TV this is where you will add it to access Netflix, Hulu or set-up your gaming systems.

  • You have the option of adding, editing and deleting devices that have been registered to the Montclair State University Secure Network.

  • You may also report lost and stolen devices through the portal.

  • Montclair State University members may register up to 10 internet capable devices.

  • To register your device, you will need to know its’ MAC address.

Check your device’s manufacturers’ websites to learn how to obtain the Mac addresses for your particular devices.
